The ingredients needed to make Kakara (Odia Pitha):
  1. Get for the dough
  2. Take atta (wheat flour)
  3. Prepare water
  4. Get jaggery or gud (you can take more or less according to your liking for sweet)
  5. Take tej patta
  6. Prepare cleaned, scrapped ginger
  7. Take ForSTUFFING
  8. Make ready coconut grated
  9. Prepare desi ghee
  10. Prepare sugar
  11. Make ready cardamom powder
  12. Get karpoor(used for Puja)
  13. Make ready Refined oil for deep frying KAKARA
Instructions to make Kakara (Odia Pitha):
  1. Boil water with tejpata and ginger piece and jaggery to prepare dough…… when gud melts let the water boil. Switch off the flam now.
  2. Now add wheat flour slowly little at a time and stir continuously to avoid any lumps. Wait and stir till the whole water is absorbed by atta Bring down and let it cool…. now the dough is ready.
  3. Heat ghee and when it melts put sugar…. stir till melts….. now add grated coconut and keep on cooking by stirring till water of coconut evaporates….
  4. Add cardamom powder and karpoor powder….. stuffing is ready. Allow both the dough and stuffing to cool
  5. Press the dough on a flat surface till it is soft…. make a bit large lemon size balls and give shape shown in picture.
  6. Put stuffing at the center…. touch the edges of pitha with wet finger.(see the photo)……press and give first shape like Pooris.
  7. Deep fry till golden brown in low medium flam. KAKRA is ready…… Note….. can be made with Sooji also. Thanks
