  2. Make ready 1 bowl Toor dal

Medu Vada or Sambar Vada is a fried, doughnut shaped south Indian delicacy made from Urad Dal. It tastes heavenly when eaten after dipping in sambar and accompanied by chutney. Medu is a Kannada word that means 'soft' and Vada means 'fritter'.

Instructions to make Sambar Vada:
  1. Take 250gms urad dal and grind it in the mixer to make Vadas.
  2. Boil the toor dal in the cooker and add salt and turmeric powder to it.
  3. For sambar powder take 2tsp coriander seeds,1tsp jeera,7to8 seeds methi Dana,3 to 4 whole red chillies roast all ingredients without oil and grind it with a small piece of coconut
  4. And make a fine paste and add it in the boiled dal
  5. Toss the sliced onions and tomatoes in a pan and put it in the sambar
  6. Now for the sambar 's tadka heat 2tsp oil in The pan add hing,Rai,jeera whole red chillies and let it crackal and then put it in the sambar along with the tamarind pulp
  7. For coconut chutney -take 1 big coconut cut into small pieces add green chillies roasted chana dal,salt and grind well
  8. For chutney's tadka.heat oil in a pan add Rai,jeera,hing,curry leaves and let it crackal and then add it in the coconut chutney
  9. Put the sambar in the bowl and serve it with Vadas and chutney.
