  1. Get 400 g Sooji / rava / semolina
  2. Prepare 300 g Curd
  3. Get 1/2 tsp baking soda

  6. Prepare 100 ml Water
  7. Make ready 1/2 tsp roasted Cumin powder
  8. Take 1/2 tsp Cinnamon powder

  11. Make ready 1 tbsp chopped Mint leaves
  12. Make ready 100 g Peanuts
  13. Take 1/2 inch Ginger

  16. Take 2 medium-sized Onions

  18. Make ready 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  19. Prepare 1 tsp /add to taste salt
  20. Make ready 1 &1/2 tbsp Oil

Idli can be prepared from either plain rice or rice rava (aka Idli Rava or Cream of Rice), urad dal and fenugreek seeds. This recipe uses Rice Rava instead of Plain Rice to give it a grainier texture and Poha to make them extra soft. Rava idli is a variation of the popular South Indian breakfast item. This is a quick, easy and tasty version of idli made with Rava (semolina / suji).

Steps to make Rava Idli:
  1. FOR IDLI BATTER:- Take a medium-sized bowl and pour suji, curd, water, baking soda and kasuri methi. Mix well and keep it aside for 1 hour to rise. After an hour add salt, cumin powder and cinnamon powder to the batter.
  2. The batter should be of thick consistency. Grease the idli stand before pouring the batter and steam for about 7-8 min. After that take out the idli stand and after a minute take out the idlis from the stand using a knife.
  3. FOR CHUTNEY:- Chopped the coriander, mint and green chilies and put it in mixer grinder. Roast the peanuts for 2 min and take them out on a plate and peel off the skin by rubbing them between your hands.
  4. Now heat the kadhai in medium flame and pour oil then add cumin seeds let it splutter then add chopped onions, when it is turning transparent and pink in colour add the chopped tomato, green chilies, ginger, garlic and peanuts. Cook them for 10 min.
  5. Take them out on a plate and let the mixture cool down. Now put all of them together along with salt in a mixture grinder and make a medium consistency paste and add milk slowly while grinding.
  6. Delicious RAVA IDLI is ready to be served with coriander and mint chutney.
