  1. Get 15-20 idli
  2. Take 1 cup chopped onion
  3. Take 1/2 cup chopped tomatoes

  6. Get 1-2 tbsp nylon sev
  7. Prepare 1 tbsp oil
  8. Prepare 1 tsp chana dal

  17. Take As per taste Salt
  18. Make ready Handful Freshly chopped coriander leaves for garnish

Although lot of food gets wasted but there are good number of Indians who don't like to waste food. Heat the oil in a deep-non-stick pan and deep-fry a few idli pieces on a medium flame till they turn crispy and golden brown in colour from all the sides. Place half the deep-fried idli pieces in a serving plate. Serving is calculated as per the quantity mentioned in the recipe.

Instructions to make Idli chat:
  1. First of all cut each idli into 4 piece. Keep aside.
  2. In a kadhai, heat oil add chana dal and urad dal. Saute for 2 minutes. Then add asafoetida, mustard seeds, cumin seeds. Let them crackle. Now add ginger garlic paste. Saute for a minute.
  3. Now add the chopped idlis, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt as per taste. Mix well.
  4. Cook till the idlis turn little crisp. Turn off the flame.
  5. In a serving plate, place the idlis. Put some chopped onions and chopped tomatoes. Put some amchur chutney and green chilli coriander chutney.
  6. Finally sprinkle nylon sev, chat masala. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves.
  7. Serve immediately.
