Capsicum chutney - South Indian style chutney made with red or green capsicums (bell peppers) that pairs well with dosa or idli or roti. Sautéed bell peppers ground with red chillies and peanuts that yields a smooth and velvety chutney. The best part of south Indian chutneys are that the options are endless. Instructions to make Idli with capsicum chutney:
  1. Chutney recripe:- Take 1 teaspoon of oil, add roughly chopped onions, ginger, garlic, dried chillies and saute.
  2. Once onions turn mushy, add capsicum and fry further. Later add 2 medium sized chopped tomatoes and saute till tomatoes are soft.
  3. Once this cools down, put everything in a blender, add 2 spoons of coconut,salt, coriander leaves and water.
  4. Blend it to a paste. Finish it up with tadka/oggaraney of oil, mustard and asafetida.
  5. For idli:-Throw some green chillies and ginger into the blender, make a seasoning of mustard seeds, chanadal and half dried chilli in coconut oil.
  6. Add this and the ground paste to the idli batter.
  7. Same can be followed for the rava idli batter. Today I prepared with rava idli mix.
  8. You can also add chopped coriander and curry leaves.
