Mix the besan, soda, ajwain, black pepper powder, oil and salt together.mix well. Add water and knead into a soft dough. Traditionally, Fafda is eaten with besan chutney. Steps to make Gujarati fafda with besan chutney:
  1. In mixing bowl add besan,salt, turmeric powder,chilly powder,carom seeds,baking soda one sp oil and mix it well.
  2. Add one more sp oil and mix it add water little by little and make semi soft dough add one more sp oil to dough keep it aside.
  3. Make pieces of dough and ablong shape and roll it thin with rolling pin (see pics).
  4. Heat oil in a pan and scrap out with a knife, drop the fafdas and fry it.
  5. For chutney in a mixing bowl add besan and water mix it well remove lumps,then add turmeric powder,salt,sugar and mix well.
  6. Heat oil in kadai add musterd seeds let it crackle add curry leaves,hing, turmeric powder, chillies and besan mix.
  7. Cook the mixture till it thickens then turn off the flame add lemon juice sweet tangy chutney is ready
  8. In serving plate place fafdas and chutney and enjoy.
